First Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon- Join us! Set Day: Easter

Do you know if any are "cart" trained? I would love to have a cart trained Icelandic Horse. We live in a large Amish area, so all the stores are setup for cart and buggy parking. On nice spring and fall days those little open carts look fun.
I take that road fairly often and they have a ranch name billboard at both corners. I'll pay attention to the name of the ranch the next time I drive by. I'm sure they must have a website, it looks like a fairly large operation. There's always at least a half dozen horses out in the front fields. They look like a very large, stocky ponyish horse.

Good morning hatchers! Sounds like the people who set later are having some better results. My turkey tutors are finally putting in an appearance. I have three chicks out and one starting to zip. They are late but at least they are hatching. My wry necked poult is not doing too good. I have to go to the dentist today for a cleaning and will probably pick up some starter fluid on the way home. I tried all day yesterday to work with the poor thing but nothing is helping. SCG I will post some pics later today I promise. I want to get them with the chicks and two of them are still wet from hatching. I so love how the poults run up to your hand when you put it in the brooder.

Fourth chick just hatched. I have one more chicken egg in there. Not sure if it will hatch. If it hasn't hatched by the time I get home, I will candle it one more time and see if it quit or not. Looks like three black chicks and one lavender. Hopefully the lavender is a girl because I am pretty sure that the one I kept back from the Easter hatch is a boy.

I have 3 hatched and and the res working on getting out. they sure do go from pip to out in a hurry

I noticed this with the three of mine that got out on their own. Very quick to get out once there was a pip. I wonder why chickens take longer to pip, zip and hatch?

Mine aren't. Last night I had 3 that were pipped, this morning only one more out, total two poults so far. This is the just like my Easter Hatch, one at a time.

I have chicks......Yes, with an 's'! Well, it's just two...... but I hatched them! MY VERY FIRST! One is from my friend's Wellsummers (or BCM's not sure which) and the other is from one of my favorite chickens' eggs (she is a little SLW/Campine mix.) I still have a bunch in the bator, I'm going to leave them a while, just in case. I still have 20 under a broody, due tomorrow, and I had another hen go broody on Friday and yesterday I gave her 25 guinea eggs! You can't imagine how excited I am over those two chicks, I love the sound of them chirping in the other room and suspect these will stay inside in the brooder WAY longer than necessary and will be quite spoiled! Woot!
I candled to see if I could toss any last night (ready to give up) and pulled five before I got to one with movement. I put it back and noticed a pip. It was 11:00pm and I went to bed. When I woke up at 5:45am, I heard chirping and nearly didn't make it to the bathroom! LOL! I guess it is a BCM since it has feathers on it's shanks, Wellies aren't featherlegged, are they? It ran to my hand when I pulled them out. The humidity was so high that they weren't drying so I put them under a light.

Thought I'd grab the last 2 out before I leave and there's 3 and more pips. NOW I remember how a hatch is supposed to go! Wish the turkeys were doing something though.

Caught up with all the posts, so hopefully it will be easier to keep up later. Yeah right!

Wisher this is WICKED AWESOME NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This morning when I was trying to wake up and drink my coffee and keep an eye on my tutors that were finally hatching I was going to ask you if you had candled your eggs again and to caution you that they might just be hatching late since mine are hatching late.
