How old are your hens? Mine not quite a year old and laying like crazy.

Whuuu?????? I only have double the amount of eggs incubating right now than he knows about. You don't think I can sell him on an idea such as the eggs multiplied in the bator (human eggs do it, it's how you get twins) so I had to buy the second bator "HATCHER" (must remember to call it that)

Tell him it was a double yolker and sometimes they spontaneouly split into two eggs.

I want to remind all of our participants that you ought to be looking for chicken eggs, as well, to set ONE WEEK after we set our turkeys.


All of the experienced Turkers have advised that it's much better for your poults to learn to eat and drink and whatnot from chicks that hatch at the same time.



Leave some room in your incubator and line up those eggs!!

If you insist.


I was talking to an employee of the feed store and mentioned about hatching chicks with them. He said that all you have to do is put "shiny" things in the water bowl, etc., but chicks sound a whole lot more fun!

(By the way, shouldn't the spell check on here know "poults"???

Mine hatched last May and at least 2 out of 3 of them are laying,.

Good morning Turkey Hatchers! It's a lovely day in Iowa this morning! It's bright and sunny and supposed to hit 80 today

Time to do some serious horse cleaning.

The birds are pretty happy about it. Most were bold about being out in the high wind yesterday but they are ALL out this morning! I was following (or leading) the flock around trying to get flapper photos (

) and noticed the Toms had really stepped up their game!


They do look a little more beat up though

The poor snood on this guy!
