First attempt at hatching, Black Marans...Update with better Pics!!!!

OK so x-mas was busy for fuzzy butts around here...

Out of the 8 marans eggs...3 infertile, 2 did not fully develope, and 3 hathed amazingly on the 21st day...

Here they are

They are doing great...I will post better pics soon

Congratulations...those are adorable. My last Maran's hatch and most stressful hatch ever was lost due to power outage/transformer fire...only 2 hatched and now I've 1 adorable sweet rooster who is the BEST flock protector and free range rooster I've ever had. I'll be keeping him forever!!

I just opened up the last 3 eggs, today would be day 24 of incubation.

2 of the were just yellow yolks...Not fertilized??
1 looked like it formed just a little bit...nothing like a chick or anything!

So out of the 8 eggs, 4 were infertile, 1 stopped developing early, and 3 hatched...not too bad I dont think.

Here they are in the brooder all dry and happy

2 of them came out with awesome feathered shanks

ADORABLE! Boy, you were brave hatching out Marans eggs for the first time! I have my low-cost first batch of eggs in the bator as we speak! I'm on Day 6. Trying hard to leave them alone.
