I received 15 RIW eggs from auction, put them under a broody hen on the 5th, went out and candled them, 7 of them were no good. 4 of them when I opened them, poured out yellow, 2 were unfertilized eggs, and one was one that died, there is possibly one more, but I wasn't sure, I will wait until day 17 to find out, I sure hope that I get at least one for her, she has been such a good foster mom. She is my Avatar. Some of the eggs when I opened them they spewed out yellow watery yolk.

It sounds like these were shipped eggs? If so, from your description the 4 that poured out yellow were "scrambled" from being shaken/handled roughly. The one that died could have from a variety of reasons: bacteria, malformed fetus, genetic issue, etc ...

In shipped eggs, I consider it a good hatch if I get half to hatch. So much can happen to them during shipment. But, in theory the 8 of them with development at this point made it past that hurdle.

Good luck and my fingers are crossed for you for a good hatch!

Hey chicken lover---keep in mind --If you don't hatch any---you could buy a couple day old babies and give her. ---be sure they are really really new---put her in a dark place when you adopt them to her, Like --slip them under her in the dark-- and she will raise them just fine,

I have eggs to hatch in the bator to hatch 3 days after hers are due, so if nothing happens, I will do that, try anyway, I will candle once more on day 17 before lock down. But I hope those will hatch under her:fl
