First Cayuga duck egg

I have always heard that they start black and get lighter as the season progresses. I have seen pictures of coal black eggs. 🤷‍♂️
Mine did, like thick sharpie black. I only have a photo of a fairy egg of hers at the moment. But I have heard of cayuga ducks laying other colors.

This is interesting. My cayuga hasn't started laying yet, but I figured it would be easy for me to tell which eggs are hers since they should be dark grey/black. I've read that their eggs start out really dark and as the season goes, they start getting lighter. Hm 🤔

Same. I was baffled but sounds like it sometimes happens that way. 🤷‍♀️

I have two swedish, and I got a black one morning and was baffled to find a black egg. I thought only cayugas lay them. Found out swedish can lay them too, but not common. Sad that your cayuga doesn't lay them. I have two cayuga ducklings, so I will have to see if they lay black eggs too.
