Went out to drop off a chick I brought back to life last night from a different broody mamma, (long story) and checked on Goldies (EE) eggs. Her first pip! It was actually cracked more than you can see. Almost had it ripped in half when I took this pic.

About an hour and a half later, here it is!

You can see mom's green legs standing over it, I lifted her up to see her new Astralorp/Buff Orpington love child. Sweet!

Awww. I have a broody with new chicks today, too. I had forgotten how much fun it is to see Mama take care of her brood.

Very cute....I have a broody right now with a barnyard mix...My rooster is a Wheaten Marans, and so the eggs underneath her are full Wheaten Marans, or half Cream Brabanter, RIR, Barred Rock, GLW.....

Should be some interesting little chicks......LOL

When we first go chickens in August, my son picked them out from the hatchery magazine so we knew what to expect. I don't know any of these because we had a total of 7 brown eggs from Barred Rock, Black Astralorp, & Sliver Laced Wyndotte. Sorry if I spelled them wrong! So yeah, they are fun to try to figure out since pappa is definitely a Buff Orpington. I have no doubt that the total black one is a black Astralorp but not sure if the other one is a Barred Rock or Wyndotte! Dosen't matter, we love them anyway!

Awww, isn't that sweet

It will be so awesome watching your Goldie raising them too. The chicks will grow up fast, Larkin!
Much faster than when we raise them...hard to believe huh?!

Last year, I had 2 buff orps hatch and raise 2 sets of chicks (turned out to be roosters ;( ). It was so amazing!

Please keep us updated.
