First chick on the way!

I had one last spring pip on the wrong end and it took over 24 hours to start zipping. I was a nervous wreck. I waited till the rest of the eggs hatched before breaking about a half inch of shell to help with zip, then about 15 mins later it was zipping the rest of the way fairly quickly. I'm not sure if I helped it start or if it would have preceded anyway. That one was the most exhausted when it finally hatched. It still slept for 2 more hours once I took the other out after they were dry so it was harder on it to get out.

congrats on the littles ! I just wanted to say you used a marker where the water goes and I know its so you can see it better. LOL THANK YOU ! I will be doing the same.

Only have 3. Others didn't make it. They never completed to flip in the right direction and pipped through a vein when they tried to start hatching.

I'm so sorry to hear that.

Thank you. It's all good though. Didn't expect a big turn out on my first hatch. We did end up with a slower chick though, it's smaller and still unsteady, had a issue with it's eye but nothing a little vetricyn eye ointment couldn't help. They all got food, grit and water hoping they grow to be awsome chickens.
