First chicken coop - going Barn style!

Well, we have made a bit of progress since the last post. I posted some questions about some changes, but received little or no replies, so i continued on my way.

We got all the exterior panels painted and installed. I need to paint the wood on the doors white still. both sides look the same.

I added the PVC feeder. Went with 3" Dia since i ndded the same size for a Christmas project! It only holds about 5 lbs of feed and as mentioned on here before, the starter feed is difficult to "flow" out. We added a temporary board for the birds to get up while they are still small. Looks like it is working to me!

I also added the water nipples. Used a 5 gallon bucket for main supply and added 3 nipples inside and 3 outside under the coop. I thought i had one of the 5 gallon bucket too.

the water system pics give a hind of the others features!

I have netting for both doors, so when they are opened, the chickens don't jump out at us.

the other feature is the entry door.

in the picture of the underside plumbing, you can see some eye bolts. These are used to hold up the trap door, and are guides for the remote cable to operate the door. Inside i had to build a frame that can be easliy removed, but will also hold the litter as it gets deeper.

finger pull on the outside, short piece of rod and hopefully it never gets tested!

since this thing started getting heavy, i was no longer able to lift it by myself and move it sideways, so something had to change. I decided wheels just weren't going to cut it, so i added skids. I decided to go with landscaping edging posts mainly because of price. they are supposed to be pressure treated, they are nicely rounded on the sides for side movement and thick enough to hold up. I also added some corner bracing, it is pretty solid now!
