Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
You can mix older hens with your pullets but you should still isolate then to make sure they really are healthy. You would then have to do an integration. Integrations take time to do correctly. It's entirely up to you.
Good luck!
Care to share pictures of your new coop?

Thank you for joining us at Backyard Chickens. You may want to post on the predator thread for advice on safeguarding your flock.
Yes, I need to do that. When we were almost finished with the coop my neighbor saw a couple of foxes nearby. So I definitely need to check to make sure I protect my girls! Thank you

Hello and welcome to BYC! This is a great place to learn and share. I hope your coop is really big. Twenty chickens is a lot. If you want any advice we need more information like your general location and climate. And we really like pictures. :frow
I'll get some pictures and post later today.

The older family friend birds...could be healthy birds at there current home.
The stress of moving them to a new place could bring out symptoms of a hidden illness.

I would hate for you to suffer quarantining them at your place for a month then have to deal with and ugly intergration (it's not always and easy process) just for them to infect your new birds.

Again...this may not happen but know that it can.
