First chickens!

:) Hello, Everyone! I'm Marta, and I got my first few chickens a week ago, after learning that I will be working remotely for another few months. Silver linings!
They are baby Silkies, in a range of colors.

It is the first time for me, and I have a lot to do, and to learn. I have a yard that I need to prepare for them, and a coop to build or purchase. They will also need protecting them from the wind and fog (coastal weather), so I am happy this friendly community exists! So much knowledge here :)
 
:welcome :frow Welcome to the world of chickens. Did you get chicks or ready to lay birds? Make sure everything is secure. Eventually the predators will learn there are chickens there and if they can get to them they will. I have several game cameras around on my property and when I first put them up I was surprised how many predators roam here, especially at night. Good luck and have fun...

Little baby chicks, so I have I have a little but of time to set it up. I am planning to test the coop and the run before I move them there, by leaving some tasty racoon treated overnight, and seeing if they disappear :)
