First Coop! Im Clucking Crazy For Chickens!

Nice setup! I like the covered coop door too. So i'm thinking i'm going to gap fill corners for drafts, and i have foam board to insulate between studs. I'm worried about Kansas city winters getting so cold, although i plan on having a heat lamp. But of course its raining in Kansas City today, so i guess it is test day for the roof! Lol fingers crossed

In the cold draft free ventilation is very important. A heat lamp is a waste of energy as all the heat goes out the vents. No heat at all in my coop and it got down to 0°F here last winter with the vents open as well as the soffets are covered with hardware cloth. Chickens come with a variable thickness down blanket for the cold it's funny to watch them fluff up.
