First thing is I have to confirm the space I want to use, but I have every reason to assume it will be ok. Given the circumstances, this is all way more rushed than it should be. I've got two rescue feral bamtam chicks, and they will need a permanent home, and while I'm at it may as well get some egg layers.
I live in Hawaii, so cold isn't an issue, and the only predators are mongoose, which will only go after chicks and eggs. The space I'm planning to build on is a farm I don't live on, but work on daily, so will most likely have a coop without a closing door in an enclosed run.
I found an old compost bailer I was thinking about turning into a coop, but doubt it would fit more than 4 birds. Would having multiple small coops in the same space be acceptable so I could build an additional one with pallets and scrap lumber?
Also would like opinions on selected location. Picture is pointing generally south/west, at about 10am. There is a shipping container casting the shadow on the left, which I may or may not use as a wall. Biggest concern is it not getting enough sun.
