Hi all! Could you tell me (and/or show) your favorite thing about your coops? We are getting ready to have ours built, and I just can't decide on design! Thank you!!!

I love that mine is a walk in coop with a poop board. It makes cleaning easy. I couldn’t imagine trying to clean out one of those small factory bought ones with all the nooks and crannies, and having to bend into strange positions to get inside...
plus, bigger means MORE CHICKENS!!!

Me too. Walk in style, poop boards and a fully secure run with a solid roof so the birds have access to the run as soon as they are off the roost and I don't have to rush out to let them out of the coop first thing in the morning.
I also love the large roof overhangs and ventilation in my coop.

Wow! That's a great coop! Our first coop won't be that big! We only have 4. I'd like to add a few more later, but still a small flock. I'm looking to be able to add on to the coop and run when needed. I never thought of having the rooster area so open, but I like it! Thank you! PS...I m a dobie lover too! 😊

Yes! That does seem like an important factor! Thank you! :jumpy

You can do a much scaled down version of what I have.
Do you have a Dobie? The little girl in my avatar is my newest adoptee. I've had her since just before the New Year. She is a bit over 4.5 years old and the 6th one I've adopted.

Just now building a new coop and after 2 previous coops my most wanted elements in the design of the new coop are: poop boards, slanted roof nesting boxes, and I'm pumped about the concrete floor going in (the coop is an already existing shed on dirt right now).

After the first coop (not a walk-in) a walk-in coop is essential IMO! Also always like to add how KEY good ventilation is!

I think I will do smaller scale! I don't have a dober right now. Sadly, I am now very allergic to them. We have had 5, and my ex has one now. When I was in college I worked in a kennel where they bread/showed/rescue dobes. I miss them terrible. I had no issues until our 3rd for over a year. Suddenly I was allergic. I took allergy pills after that. They stopped working. Our last I could hardly pet, and couldn't let him upstairs even. I said never again. Not fair to them. Thank goodness my girls played with and loved on him!

My sister is like that, but for her it goes away. Whenever she first comes to visit my dog and I, her face will balloon up and her throat hurts. After a few hours it goes away and then she's fine. It's really weird.
