Well I’m one step closer to getting my chickens🤗. I built my coop and now just need to finish painting and put a few finishing touches. Next I need to buy stuff to be chick ready and finally the chicks!!

even one bird contained in that is just wrong...I hope you have a large run to go along with that.

those little pre-fab coops are nothing more than a sleeping and laying chamber.

I think if you could move the coop once a day it would be suitable for 2. I agree though that it's a tight space for two full sized birds. My birds free range and it's clear how much they love and enjoy playing in the leaves, sleeping under bushes, and just enjoying chicken things. I would at least recommend adding enrichment like clumps of sod, bunches of leaves, hanging lettuce, or perhaps letting them free range while you are home. Chickens are far more intelligent and curious than people give them credit for.

Another thing though, I actually recommend a minimum of three birds because they are very social, and when one dies, the other is left utterly alone and may not take well to a new chick.

Thanks everyone for your input. It’s my first time so I’m new to all of this. I ordered an extension for the run today that I’ll attach. They will be free ranging sometimes but I do work so they’ll be in the coop/run during the day M-F. I plan on getting more stuff over the next few weeks and then finally my chicks.

I did forget to mention that your craftsmanship was amazing on that coop! It's too late now, but in the future I recommend doubling or trippling the size of any coop/run just because chickens are addicting. I'm in that position myself as I am very quickly acquiring more than I have room for and I still want more!

Make the run BIG.

It's pre fab kit ;) ....nice paint job tho.

Might be OK for 2, depending on your climate.

Welcome to BYC! @Kperk
