I hatched out 4 coturnix quails. Unfortunately, only 1 is a female. 1 is white with some golden splotches on his head and back (what is this?)...anyways... she will be 6 weeks old tomorrow and laid her first egg early this morning. The egg is perfect! It's amazing that they are able to lay eggs so soon. 6 weeks! I've never heard her do the fertile song, she's pretty quiet...but obviously she's ready! She is a brown and I have her in a separate cage with a golden. I know it's not the ideal ratio...but it's better than leaving her alone with the 3 males! lol In a few more weeks, my second batch of quails will be old enough and she'll hopefully have more females to keep her company.
