First Date

She is either being crushed with embarrassment by how disastrous the date was (not unheard of in the world of first dates... can I get an Amen?) or it was so great, her mind has been filled to overflowing with thoughts of him and is practicing writing "Mrs. AussieGirl FirstDateGuysLastName" on all her notebooks.

Aw, she'd be sooo grounded. Or maybe being grounded explains it

we first went out to dinner the restaraunt was so packed we decide to go elsewhere. Ate at a buffet style place and talked well he mostly talked i just listend (again I was nervous) but I tried to talk when I could an dlisten when I couldnt. After dinner we went and walked around the mall for a bit. I will say this though he was awesome gentleman. He paid for the meals, opend doors for me etc etc. He really wanted that goodbye kiss I think but I didnt give it to him. He got a hug instead. Also he wanted to introduce me to his parents but I kinda felt like that was going a bit too fast and it was kinda late like 10:30.

I'm 23 and have only been on about 5 dates.

My first one was when I was 14 and he was 15 but I don't think it counts because my grandma went with us...LOL

My first REAL date was a disaster... I was 21 and he was 20. He picked me up in a minivan. And his mom was driving. Nightmare!!

The last date I went on was February 14th 2009.. we went out to eat at Olive Garden and it was my very first time drinking, and after 2 shots I was wasted and I remember telling a lady her kids were so cute but it creeped her out (later I thought, why did a man and woman bring their 3 toddlers to eat out at 10pm on V-Day?)

I fell asleep in the taxi ride home and don't remember much about the following days.

Yeah..... I haven't had very many success stories.

The part with the mom driving.. I haven't had a date because of that. I know I'm still young but I have gotten into plenty of arguements with my mom about her driving me and a guy or tagging along on dates. I don't think she understands this era very well.. I do not want to kiss a person in front of my mother, I do not want to cuddle with a person in front of my mother, I do not want to play footsies with a person in front of my mother. Playing footsies is pretty fun.

(I'm not wittle kid age btw LOL)
Didn't mean to hi-jack the thread AussieGirl. Do try out footsies though! It gets really funny!

AussieGirl! I am proud of you! The first dates are always the hardest!

In the future, if you have a really nightmarish date where everything goes wrong, the best way to smooth it over is to call him on the phone and say something like "Wasn't that awful? I wonder if there is anything that could have gone wrong, that didn't? Let's try this again and hopefully now that all the nervousness and catastrophe is behind us, we can see if things go better. I'd hate to think I had thrown away a good relationship because of a terrible first date."

Think of the people on this thread who have said their first dates were a nightmare. Now they have that as a funny story. "You should see how *our* first date went! Somehow he lost his wallet, when he fell in that mud puddle, so I had to pay for dinner! At the end, just as he leaned in to kiss me, his mother called his cell phone and the ringtone was a really inappropriate rap song, in the context... after he hung up, he leaned in again and a bird pooped on our heads."

See? It's funny to hear about, but at the time... imagine the crushing embarrassment?
