First Day :)

LOL, well I am going to candle the Dutch banty eggs on Monday night. Right now I have eggs in there that will hatch at three different times, the dutch, the mixed layers and the silkies. I have another incubator for hatching so the humidity issue doesnt get in the way.
Congrats on the Welsummer egg!

And dont worry about giving in to temptation...its difficult NOT to,lol.

Well I was hoping to have better news with my thorough candling tonight. Unfortunately it looks like only 4-5 eggs are looking good.

If 4-5 hatch that will be great but usually something doesn't work out right. I was hoping for 8-9 to be looking good at this point.

Oh well, we are half way there now. Maybe these few can hang on full term.

I am actually waiting til it gets darker since its difficult to block light out of here. I am hoping!

Well, I candled and I THINK at this point they are all viable. Its only my second time candling. I might one more time in the upcoming weekend, then just hope....

Oh I sure hope so!!!! By now you should have seem them swimming around. Probably about dime-size and sometimes you have to look close and fast or you'll miss them. Well, smaller than dime size with bantams. But you should at least see movement, however fleeting!

There DID seem to be movement. I have a big old flashlight that I had to put cloth and a rubber band around to get a decent light to put on them.
It IS very exciting!

My daughter keeps looking in the window of the incubator every time she passes by,lol. I dont know which one of us is most anxious for chickies!
