I opted to not go with the egg carton method this time. My reason was that I am using a still air bator. Putting them in an egg carton obviously raises the eggs up. Then when you tilt the egg carton, some are higher than others.
I would have temps up to 103 at the top of the highest egg and then it wouldn't even be 99 on the bottom of the bator.
I had a zero hatch rate (my first experience), so I decided to just lay them all on the tray this time. Yes, it takes longer to turn the eggs but I haven't had any temperature swings at all.
Anyway, that's my reasoning for not doing it this time. Although I think with a forced air bator it would be a non-issue.
Well, last night I candled the eggs one last time. I saw movement in all 3 of my good eggs. For just a moment I thought I saw movement in the egg that has the aircell on the side, so I left it in.
I filled up the water chambers and closed it up. Humidity was close to 70% this morning. I am hoping, hoping, hoping!!
My parents are coming in today from Iowa. My Mom is very excited about all this and said she's just going to sit and watch the eggs all day, LOL. Can't wait to hear the first little *peep* *peep*.
Thursday is "officially" day 21.
Good luck!!
