First Day :)

Turtle, I love the adorable babies!!!!
LOL, your pics are so much better than mine, I need to get a good camera instead of this phone one.
In the pic he is on newspaper but I also have some paper towels in there for him. Earlier today he was up and walking. My daughter laughs how he sometimes sets on his but with the big feet up in the air.

Its Watermelon Fest here so we were out for about three hours. When we got back you would have thought it was DAYS! He wanted to see us so badly. He likes it when his people are around because he doesnt get so lonely.
Oops, forgot to say, THANK YOU CINDY for posting the pic!

I dont know if I should start another thread or keep up with this one, but I am putting two mixed layer eggs (there was a third but it was smelly so I took it out) and silkie eggs in the hatcher in the upcoming week. I do have other eggs too(Mixed layer, Ameraucana, more silkies, two different types of Polish, my aunts ducks, Seramas on the way) would like to keep updating. I am going to keep up with this hobby and hopefully keep getting better at it!

Well, today is the first day all over again!!! I've got 39 more jumbo coturnix in the bator and hopefully this time I'll get more than 5 (well, 6 but we won't talk about #6

)

So good luck to all again!!!!!

I put 8 silver seabrights in the bator yesterday and today 6 white leghorns.
I picked up 5 barred rock bantys yesterday, 4 weeks old, they are so cute, they will keep me company till the 26 other eggs hatch on sept 14th
Is it ok to keep adding eggs to the bator? I think after todays group, I will need to stop and clean the bator?
so addicted to hatching,

I'm jealous that you all still have eggs to hatch. What a downer after the hatch is done.

I must confess I do still have my ONE silkie mix egg left. I wasn't holding out much hope for it since I closed the bator up for 3 day and obviously didn't turn that egg. However, after candling tonight, the baby is moving around just fine inside. So... I'll work on just one egg a little while longer.

I set the Polish yesterday (half Khaki and half Red Tailed Black) last night and the Seramas tonight so we are in the same boat again.

Anyone still hatching?

My one silkie mix egg is due to hatch this Sunday. I'm just really not sure what it will be or look like. Of course, my roo is a Partridge Silkie. At the time this egg was laid, I only had 4 brown layers: New Hampshire Red, Rhode Island Red, Black Sexlink and a white plymouth rock. At least I think that's right, LOL.

I'm getting 7 eggs a day from my "crew" now, including 2 a day from my 2 CA whites.

My two hatchling Welsummers are doing fine and growing good. I will be putting them out in the shed today in the brooder. They will have a lot more space out there and it should be good for them. How are all of your new babies doing??

Shane
