Too bad you don't live closer...I have 6 right now that I don't want. I bought them at an auction to trade with a friend, but she didn't seem to thrilled about it. I will keep them if I have to, but I really don't like silkies.

I know I know. Everybody thinks I'm crazy.

Idk if this is the 'right' way to do it, but i have had a few like that. I get them wet, then take a towel and fluff them up. Thinking about getting a baby hair brush. After all, the others get brushed every time they climb under mama don't they?

We used a tooth brush to fluff his feathers. I suggested using my husbands, but the neighbor thought we shouldn't !!! I found an old one under the sink. lol

I started 15 eggs in the incubator last night for my very first hatch. I'm so excited. I wanted to add a few of my own EE's and polish eggs (I bought silkie eggs) but my girls are suffering from PTSD after a dog attack earlier in the week and arent laying. Wish me luck@!!

Good luck on your first hatch. Sorry about your girls being traumatized. Sending good hatching vibes your way......

Nothing going on yet with my other silkie eggs with the exception of the one that died.

I know these things happen but that doesnt mean I dont feel sad about it. Especially, as like I said, these are what my daughter wanted. I did win an assortment of seven silkie eggs, I am not going to give up!
If all else fails, we will buy silkie chicks from McMurray in the spring or look for someone who has adults they want to find homes for.
I got a surprise today because I didnt know he shipped them, but 16 Frizzle Cochin eggs, different colors, came today.
At least I can say I am getting PLENTY of practice with this hatching thing!!! I really enjoy the hobby.

Frizzle Cochen eggs? I do not know what they will look like grown. You said you rec'd different colored eggs. what colors? I am just so curious.
The mail carrier brought me a package with 8 EE's. I beleive Arucana's forgive my spelling.
so in the bator they went. these were a greenish blue egg. I better marked the calander, for the hatching date.
My five surviving chicks are doing well, including the one that was sticky. We had him separated, but I think he can joing the others. I will make sure they don't peck him. He is only half thier size. I have a picture of him sleeping on his stuffed animal "mom".

I know this will probably sound really stupid but I have one banty rooster out of 22 mixed Araconda, Rhode Island Red, Barred Rocks and Golden Sex Links...has anyone ever hatched eggs by a Banty rooster crossed with any of the above? If you did, what do they look like?

Sis, the Frizzle Cochin eggs are Blue, Barred and one other color, I cant remember which?
If I remember this right, not all of the eggs will be frizzle. I am not an expert on the whole genetics thing!

My incubator is pretty full but I am going to find a place for these anyway. Soon my Khaki Polish and Red Tailed Black Polish will be going into the hatcher. Well, relatively soon, they are supposed to hatch approximately the 27th. So that will leave more room.
