first egg a double yolk

monday I got my first egg from my RIRs,I decided to have it for my breakfast this mornng,broke the egg in a cup and dicovered it was a double yolk,it was a medium size egg with a chocolate colored shell,I was very surprised to find a double yolk in the very first egg.is this normal for RIRs?yummy,,great flavor,,,,,

I dont know if its normal for RIR's...but congrats!

I found a completely oval egg yesterday that I swear was almost twice as long as normal eggs and it was a double yolker too!

I was so excited that I took a pic of it...lol.

congrats on your egg. i have red sex links that have been laying several weeks, and one lays a double yoker just about every time. i was so excited the first time i made scrambled eggs i forgot to salt and pepper them.

Congrats! One of my RIR's first egg was a double yoker too.... Ouch! I was baffled at first because it was so big and then the next one was little....

We are just starting to get eggs from our 20 hens (for about 2 weeks now). A few days ago I went to make scrambled eggs out of the new eggs for the first time. I was making a big batch of eggs and out of 7 eggs, 3 were double yoked. I couldn't believe it. So, maybe we just have a hen that is prone to double yolks? Very cool though!
