First Egg Announcement!

That's a cool scale, is it accurate?

The picture of the scale is just from a Google picture. I don't actually have that scale. I have a new digital kitchen scale that measures both in oz, lbs, grams, and kilograms. I posted that picture for the egg size chart and was wondering if that chart is still up to date? Probably not a big deal for my home use, but I have noticed that size and weights have changed over the years in grading eggs.

Looks to match what I pulled off a USDA site 6 years ago.

I hear you about the expensive eggs. We are definitely not saving any money, but it's worth it in other ways.

I think it's about impossible to compete with the commercial farms for eggs. Last week, our supermarket had eggs on sale for $0.68 per dozen. Normal price is about $0.98 per dozen. But, having a small backyard flock has many advantages other than just eggs and most of that is hard to put a price on.
