First egg at 25 weeks. Not in Nesting boxes

We had our first egg today. It was a social even attended quite loudly by the whole flock.
The small Laura spent an hour truing to decide where to lay. To our dismay it was not in the Nesting boxes she checked out over and over where we have some plastic mats designed to prevent breakage. But instead right under the favored roosting bar where she dug into the pine shaving and poop

The nest boxes have fake eggs. What els cen we do to encourage laying in the Nesting boxes?

Is it just plastic mats in the nesting box or is there nesting material on top of the mats?

They don't know what's going on yet, give it time.

New layers will often lay in the wrong places, or even while they're on the go. Most birds will figure it out on their own in a few weeks.

it is just the mat right now. I plan to add pine shavings into the box on top. since they seem to prefer it.
