Yes it was wonderful ^_^. We went to a ranch/resort in Northern Idaho that was just amazing! They practically had to shoo us away with a broom once the honeymoon week was over. lol

And Gifa, yes you have two seperate hens laying there! Congrats on that gorgeous blue egg. Jealous again!!! I want blue eggs sooo bad.

Sweet! 3 down, 4 to go. I really expected the wyandottes to lay before the EEs.

Now to see what colors my other two EEs will lay. I have a green and a blue... so, the rest is bonus! More greens and blues would be fine, Pink or ivory would be nice, but I won't mind if one is a brown layer to make up for one of the three Wyandottes I started out with turning out to be a Roo.



Congrats on your wedding. The photo is quite lovely. I don't know why more people don't choose autumn to get married... The fall weather makes for comfortable gowns and photogenic trees. October really should be the #1 month for weddings, not June. =P

Thanks everyone I'm not sure why fall isn't more popular either. After September the price of venues drops by half or more, and the colors are so beautiful.

Oh, and I just ordered 6 Cuckoo Marans eggs today, they should be here next week and if I'm lucky I can add them to this thread in a month! Shh, don't tell my husband though, he has no idea I ordered them. Heehee.

So I went out to collect today, and there were 2 eggs in the box... A 49g white one (thank you my dear leghorn, Zoe) and a big 54g greenish blue one...

So now, much to my delight, I have 3 distinct colors in the carton. The green one is only 44g.



This is enough of a color and size difference to say it's from a totally different bird... right?

If so, I do believe Mrs. Bridget (my biggest EE) is now laying also!

Love all the egg colors!! And your cute little EE is adorable!! Idk what it is, but I just love them. They look different then most chickens to me, different good, not different bad. I can't put my finger on it though. We bought 2 EE's in Sept. but something got in the outdoor brooder and killed on of the EE chicks and one of the BR chicks. I was so bummed!! We got 7 chicks, 5 different breeds and the BR and EE's were the ones I was most excited about so of coarse they would be the first ones targeted. So, now we only have 5 babies left, 1 EE and 1 BR along with a BO, BSL and a Black Australorp (sp?).
Speaking of my BSL, from what I've been told, these birds are color sexed? So if you have a BSL it's for sure a pullet? What do the boys look like? I have a BSL hen and my BSL pullet looks different then my hen. My hen started out black as a chick but when her feathers came in she really lightened up, she's not black at all, she's dark brown and red. This new little chick/pullet is completely feathered in but stayed black. Is this normal?

Thanks Nikki I actually laugh a lot about the dress, because it was pretty much the most ridiculously large dress that they had in the store. What you don't see in the picture is a cathedral length train that my bridal party had to spend about 15 minutes hooking up into the bustle. My photographer got a few shots in of that debacle between laughing at us.

To answer your chicken question, BSL roos look a lot like Barred Rock roos, except they'll have splashes of red occasionally on top of all those bars. It sounds like you just have hens that are from different lines. Though even in the same line, you can get a lot of variation in hybrids. I have Red SLs, and one hen (the girl at the beginning of the thread) is mostly blonde. Her sister is mostly red with just a little bit of blonde. Go figure, the blondest girl ended up being the head of the flock too. Lol.

My dress was HUGE too. Largest petticoat they made. And we rode from the church to the reception in my FIL's Model T. My MIL wrapped a sheet around my dress to cinch it down so I could fit in the door of the Model T.

That was 18 years ago.

My Mom's hoop made it impossible for her to use the toilet because the stall was too narrow. (almost 52 years ago.)
