Oh yeah... big sci-fi fan... we are going to name all of our hens after the women of sci-fi... We just started with Firefly... my Mini Aussie's name is River... which bridges Doctor Who and Firefly quite nicely... and there are lots of companion names that are suitable for future flock additions...

And yes, BSG... Boomer, Sharon, Caprica, D'anna, Roslin, Kara, Starbuck, Cally, etc are all in the running for future girls.

In fact, We informally named the coop "Ser 'hen' ity" And we originally had 8 chicks, but one ended up being a rooster... and we suspected this very early on... so his name was Jayne... and after he had himself a real interesting day, we informally refer to the run as Canton... lol.
 
Oh wow, I had no idea we had so many sci-fi fans! My husband and I are all around uber-nerds :)

We've named our chickens after Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Darla & Drusilla), a Shakespeare character (Ophelia), and we have a cat named after a model game called War Machine (Xal).

I can't really justify Sushi our betta though, he's just named for personal amusement :p.

Our current flock is Starbuck, Boomer, Dualla, and Number Six.
 
I named my crabbiest hen Cersei. I was thinking of naming all new cockerels Joffrey. Once they pass the "mean" test and get to stay, then they get a different name.

My yet to lay marans girl is sitting on the nestbox right now...

She's probably over 50 weeks old so I'm hoping she finally lays!
