Wow, maybe you should discuss the idea with them that they are actually a newfound broiler breed?

Layanoegga just kinda rolls off the tongue....

WOoHoo!!! I have another 1st egg! Mumford, our BR laid this adorable little egg just now, at 19 1/2 weeks old, after an hour of laboring...LOL...You would have thought she was birthing a monster the was she was carrying on! LOL! BUT it was a small little beauty, goes perfect with Miss. Henny Penny's darker egg from yesterday! Whats funny is that all the older hens, the one who has been laying for 3 days and the others about ready to, all sat around the coop, like for moral support! It was the sweetest thing! And when Mumford came out, they all walked with her! SO CUTE!

To those people who are notifying (bragging!!) about their first egg - maybe an age of the chicken would be helpful? So those of us who are still waiting impatiently will give out chickens a little more time.......

no eggs from the slw's, Elizabeth taylor and zsa zsa. now my Barnevelders, max (maxine) and jijins (what our 1yr old son calls them) are starting to show some comb growth. they are coming up on 19 wks.

Ok i'll join in...I have 3 15 week olds and 4 16 week old pullets. All but one of my 16 week pullets have there waddles and combs looking nice and red and pretty big...one of the barred rocks however has almost no come and waddle. My 15 week old pullets are starting to gt their combs and waddles and 1 of them has them as big as the 16 weeks olds its a golden comet. The other two are Austrolorp and NH Red. The other 16 week olds pullets are 2 RIR and 2 BR. My first time with chickens so not sue when I should be getting my eggs but I just got the nest boxes ready....hens are kicking it out into the coop though?

I love this thread - it helps make the waiting easier! We have 6 girls who are a day or two over 19 weeks. All 4 of our RIR's have been much louder for the past 2 weeks (hope that calms down some) and 2 have been squatting for about a week. One of our BO's also has a very red comb and wattles, but has never done the squat that I've seen. I've been looking for eggs all over their part of our yard for the past week, but no luck. Then sometime this morning (not sure when b/c my daughter was the one to let them out of the coop today) the egg fairy arrived!!! I went out to do one of my daily egg hunts and there, under the our rainbarrels, where they've been hanging out since they were chicks, were two perfect little eggs! There was no egg song or any other "womanly" behavior that would let us know who gave us the eggs. In fact, when I went out this afternoon and evening, none of them squatted for me. I am fairly confident of who it's not - one of our buffs is only now getting pink in the comb and face even though she's the same age as the others, but I don't know which of the others it is. The eggs are very similar size and color, but one is slightly speckled and the other not at all. I'll definitely be watching tomorrow morning to see if I can tell which of our girls are laying.
