I want eggs!!
There, i said it. After all,I raised two separate groups of chicks, I monitered the temperature, I changed water, I cleaned paper towel, then sawdust, I bought chick starter, I researched food, and bought organic crumble, I spent time online making sure I was doing it all "right" I built a coop (well, i helped...), every morning I herd them from their coop & small run into their huge day run - and at night back again, I feed them home grown treats from the garden, I hosed down the run to keep them cool, I hang out and take with them at times during the day..............really, is it asking too much for them start contributing - all I ask is they lay eggs.
My older girls are 17 weeks old, one Delaware & three red-sex links (RIR X Delaware). The combs etc have definitely grown, reddened, but, no squatting (don't touch me!). They have investigated the nesting boxes, but, I don't see anyone spending any lengthy amount of time in there (doesn't mean they aren't though).
Any thoughts on how much longer I will wait - or, who will be first?
Any comments appreciated.
