First Egg Countdown

1st egg on Saturday!  Euskal Oiloa at 2 days shy of 24 weeks.  She's laid 3 eggs in four days.  Then our Swedish flower started yesterday, at exactly 24 weeks.  Two eggs for two days so far from her.  Frankly, I'm surprised -- we don't give them any extra light!  I guess it's been sunny enough (SF bay area).  Yee haw!

Congrats!

Alice gave us two eggs! Little booger hid them!
First two are the same size as a grade A large and BEAUTIFUL tan!

Glad you found them.

A welsummer pullet (that is younger than the barnevelder pullets) was nice enough to give me a first egg. Yay, one less freeloader!

I have 9 pullets (I hope!), all 21 weeks old. I can't tell if any of them are squatting, because they won't let me pet them. They've always just run away when I try. I don't have a rooster.

They look in the nest boxes a few times a day, and sometimes hop in and pop right back out.

Any hope that they'll lay soon? These are my first chickens ever!

Dina - Welsummer - She's actually a bit redder. That's her red comb glowing behind Big Momma in this picture.

Adele - Australorp Cricket - Australorp

Sally - Faverolle I couldn't resist taking this fluffy chicken butt picture!

OK, I forgot to say that I have one fake egg in each of the three nest boxes. I have them on organic grower feed, and I put out crushed egg shells and oyster shell for them to eat as they need. Someone is eating it, because I keep having to put out more egg & oyster shell!

So you think they're soon?
