First Egg Countdown

We got our first two eggs today!!! I was so beside myself excited

Our four buff orpingtons are 19 weeks and these were in two seperate nesting boxes so I'm assuming they're from two different girls. We also have 6 girls that are 12 weeks so will be anticipating their first eggs in a couple months!

Congrats! I first read that you were so eggcited that you wet yourself lol. We've had 2 eggs so far, and our chickens are all 16 weeks old now. The first eggs are from our white leghorns, no doubt. We have 8 chickens, total, 2 roosters.

OK update!!!!! We have 7 hens that are laying. Today when I got home we had seven eggs and one was a whopper at 87 grams. Then for some reason the automatic chicken door closed early with all the hens outside. We opened the door and I asked my son to shoe the hens inside. He did and came inside with a shell less egg. I was perplexed. I already had all seven eggs and the eggs that we had were a match with out hens, 2 Salmon F, 3 Barred R, and 2 EE. He swears he saw a BR squat and lay this egg. What do I think now?

We have 19 hens & 1 roo.. a mixed flock. They are all a little over three months now, so we definitely have a bit of a wait! We've always had chickens, but took a break for a few years to do some renovations to the property.. and everyone who used to buy eggs from us is so excited about being able to get eggs again that they ask us practically every other day if we have eggs yet! I'm guessing our leghorns or red sex links will lay first, and our easter eggers will make us wait (since that's the way it always is with them!). We also have barred rocks, black australorps, speckled sussex, and one light brahma.

Well, it's official. The little frizzle I have been waiting on to lay eggs finally did. I don't know what mix she is but seeing her egg, I assume she is part silkie or some other bantam. Her egg is a blush colored egg.

The little blush colored one 2nd from the right! The egg colors not showing up well....brown, blue, blush and white.
