Happy chooks is right, I bought 2 dozen eggs on a Thursday, and I got my first egg on the Monday, today is not quite 2 weeks from when I bought the eggs, and today I collected 13 eggs from 23 girls, who I share with my MIL

Thank you! It's from my RIR I caught then today my BSL egg is lighter then my RIR and just a tiny bit smaller I'm hoping my EE will lay like tomorrow I wanna know the egg color!

Its a beautiful egg but certainly not an RIR egg. Can you post your RIR pic again, she must be a mix breed & not a RIR if she is laying a dark brown egg.

I don't know all the breeds but she looks kind of like a Welsummer/RIR cross to me. She has a bit of the golden hackle feathers and dark tail feathers like my Welly but is much more red overall. I know Welsummers lay darker eggs too so it may be a possibility.

She seems to have some gold with black speckling on the neck, which can be a Welsummer trait. That might explain the beautiful dark egg.

ETA: Oops, someone already said Welsummer cross! Well, it's probably the case then- I think Happy Chooks will be able to tell you for sure.

She is not a welsummer. She is a hatchery RIR or possibly a New Hampshire- both are called a Production Reds.

OH OH OH!!! WE HAVE PROGRESS!!

I went in to check the nesting boxes this morning and one of the boxes (which all have been completely untouched since install) was completely messed up! The shavings inside were all pushed around to make a more nest like hole. YEAY! Hopefully we will see an egg soon!!

SO EXCITED!

(it's funny how overly excited I am about a few shavings being messed up) haha
