First Egg Countdown

My EEs are coming up on 27 weeks. They're our only pea combed chickens so the one having a comb change almost overnight was a bit of a surprise! I'vesaid here before, she has been squatting on occasion for a while. Mot just walking funny if being pet, but real squatting. I figured it's been so long because it is winter. She is friendly but pretty flighty. She is my daughter's pet. Her comb suddenly doubled, she has been checking out the nesting boxes for quite a while (our Leghorn girls lay. The Brown one is the exact same age as the EEs and laying for over a month now lol) She is getting easier to catch but still not thrilled with being held and loved on too much. My daughter wants a pink or purple egg. I keep telling her pink is possible, purple not so much lol.
Our other one finally squatted for me yesterday too! She is one of my sons' pet. She is much more friendly, likes being pet and comes most of the time if I call her. She likes being held and rubbed on quite a bit, too. She closes her eyes and purrs sometimes lmbo. She comes running yelling at me for food if she even hears my voice unless there's a lot of snow.on the ground lol. Our cockerel isn't too into her, only on occasion but the first one he tries to mate a lot. She is like....nope! The difference in their combs now is a shock!

Our D'uccle is finally getting a comb a TINY bit higher than her feathers now, too! And a tad pink. I know they take a long time as a breed, though so that was a surprise too! She's our loveable little pet though haha. She's smaller than most parrots and very headstrong but loves to talk to us, loves humans and LOVES cuddles!

Got 6 eggs today!! 4 more girls to go. Not sure who layed the mystery egg. Either another red star, 2 BRs, a BO or an EE.

Still waiting on our first too! We have two 5.5 month old girls (EE and GL Wyandotte), a 4 month old Silkie, and a 2 yo bantam Cornish that we literally just got this week (she's still in her own pen while they all adapt). The Cornish lays, but she just finished molting plus the stress of a move, so no telling when she'll start up again. My EE is picking at my Wyandotte's butt feathers and the Wy is squatting occasionally, so I hope when we warm up this weekend, we'll see our first egg!!!!!

The good news is, I'll always know whose is who. No confusing an EE with a Wy or a Silkie with either, and I hear the bantam Cornish lay roundish eggs, so hers should be easy to tell too. Now if only they would LAY!!! ARGH!

Now two of my 20 week old RIR's are squatting fully every time we reach for them. The nest boxes have Styrofoam eggs in them and they are disturbed every morning and afternoon when I check. The other 2 RIR's same age but haven't quite shown egg laying behavior yet.

I've tried to feel underneath where the pelvic bone is supposed to have a gap? I really have no idea what I am feeling for. I can follow the breast bone all the way until it stops, but what am I supposed to be finding beyond that and if there is a one or two finger gap?

Either way, we are pretty sure we should see eggs within a week or two at the latest. Lemon has been squatting for about 4 days and Leticia is on her second day of a full squat with wings spread! I can't wait!!

What pretty eggs!!! Congrats! We are still waiting on our ladies. 21w 2d. No squatting yet that I've seen, but the Cuckoo Marans have been a bit more chatty. This is FluffyButt. Her sisters combs are red but hers seems to have doubled in size over the last couple days. I put my money on her giving us our first!
