My EEs are coming up on 27 weeks. They're our only pea combed chickens so the one having a comb change almost overnight was a bit of a surprise! I'vesaid here before, she has been squatting on occasion for a while. Mot just walking funny if being pet, but real squatting. I figured it's been so long because it is winter. She is friendly but pretty flighty. She is my daughter's pet. Her comb suddenly doubled, she has been checking out the nesting boxes for quite a while (our Leghorn girls lay. The Brown one is the exact same age as the EEs and laying for over a month now lol) She is getting easier to catch but still not thrilled with being held and loved on too much. My daughter wants a pink or purple egg. I keep telling her pink is possible, purple not so much lol.
Our other one finally squatted for me yesterday too! She is one of my sons' pet. She is much more friendly, likes being pet and comes most of the time if I call her. She likes being held and rubbed on quite a bit, too. She closes her eyes and purrs sometimes lmbo. She comes running yelling at me for food if she even hears my voice unless there's a lot of snow.on the ground lol. Our cockerel isn't too into her, only on occasion but the first one he tries to mate a lot. She is like....nope! The difference in their combs now is a shock!
Our D'uccle is finally getting a comb a TINY bit higher than her feathers now, too! And a tad pink. I know they take a long time as a breed, though so that was a surprise too! She's our loveable little pet though haha. She's smaller than most parrots and very headstrong but loves to talk to us, loves humans and LOVES cuddles!
