I love these colors! What breed of hens do you have that lay such colors of eggs? I am planning to get chickens and am just learning about them so far. Thanks!

My two that are laying are both Cuckoo Marans. One lays a nice darker brown and the other a pinkish beige. Same breed, go figure! But, in general, Marans are known for brown eggs. Black Copper Marans can have eggs that look like chocolate!

Ugh, still getting through the hormone stage. First egg from my 20 week RIRs a week ago Thursday. Next egg came on Monday. Then no egg Tuesday, an egg on Wednesday. THEN... we had TWO eggs this past Thursday, so we must have 2 girls laying now. One egg only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (the original layer I am pretty sure) sooooo today, Monday we thought we would get two eggs again, one from the first layer and one from the second.

NOPE!!! No egg today at all.... bummer. Waiting, waiting, waiting for an egg a day... or 4 a day since I have 4 hens!!...

Now that most of my girls are laying now, I can fill up my eggskelter!!!

I bought mine from Amazon but Manna Pro has a special now for $10 off
if you go to MannaPro.com and use discount code SPRING14 at checkout. Expires on March 31st

I wish I waited a little while to get mine, I would have saved $10 or more. They're like 45 on Amazon and 24 on Manna Pro with the 10 off.

Eggs look so nice in the egg skelter. Mine is filled up every 2 days right now. I'm getting 16-20 egg a day.
That's funny, me too! I have 22 chickens and 21 are laying. My average is 12 to 19 eggs a day, I still have not had a 20 or 21 egg day. Seems they coordinate and skip days that on opposite days.

How many total chickens do you have?
