First Egg Countdown

It wasn't much longer at all! My little Loretta laid out first egg today!

My 22 week old Dominiques have been that red for about two weeks and I am still waiting! Congratulations! I should show mine this photo!

That's great. I've been getting 3 eggs for couple of weeks now. 4 others girls haven't started yet. All are 26 weeks old. Some lay sooner than others and the breed make a difference too.

my girls are 25 weeks old and haven't laid, they are dual purpose birds.

Two of my 20 week Doms are VERY red (including Loretta above, whos now laying), one is still very immature looking in the face. I expect Tammy, the other very red pullet, to start any day! Dolly, the third, will probably be the last of this years gals to lay, SFHs included.

My barred rocks turned 20 weeks on Wednesday(11/11/15) and still no eggs yet. Their combs and wattles are getting bright red.

My roosters are RIR and BOxRIR. I like the crow of the mixed rooster and I think the chicks will be prettier too! If the chicken calculator is correct.

I've been reading this forum for a few weeks now but this is my first post.
Today we finally got our first egg! Awesome!

Now we just have to wait for our 2 barnevelders to start.

11 Barred Plymouth Rock pullets at 18 weeks. I've raised chickens for over 30 years off and on. Still can't wait for that first egg again!
Going to make black sexlinks this spring.
