First Egg Countdown

Thought I'd join the countdown to the first eggs. I have three Delawares at 24 and a half weeks old. None of them have started to squat yet.

From left to right: Patty (smallest), Noodle (biggest), and Nugget (used to be the smallest.. that's how she got her name as a chick

).

It's difficult to tell who is who in pictures unless you're looking at their feet and back. I *think* that's Nugget on the left and Noodle in the middle. And I think that's Patty's tail on the far right.

And because everyone needs a glamour shot....

Edited because I can't spell.

I agree, they should be squatting and raising a racket any day now! Wow those are red combs!

Good luck, we'll be sending them egg vibes!

And this? She's a 33 week old leghorn! This picture is kinda old, her comb is even bigger and redder now! It looks washed out in the picture.

Don't despair that your chickens haven't squatted. Only a couple of mine ever did.

And isn't it crazy how many shades of red there are before they reach their final color? I thought my 16-week Speckled Sussex looked darned near ready but oh, no... that girl didn't lay until 30 weeks and her comb just kept growing and darkening.

Oh wow, I might have lost my mind if I ever had to wait 30 weeks for my birds! You should get a medal or something for patience!

Oh no, a Welsummer put her to shame. I posted separately about that nonsense. And yes, where do I pick up my medal?
