First Egg Countdown

Don't forget many chickens don't even start thinking of laying until 20 to 24 weeks.... So don't send any to freezer camp until WELL after that or you'll lose out!

I had 3 eggs today. One a double yolker. Means 3 laying wooohoooo my other four are not far behind they range from 23-24.5 weeks old. One was laying for over three weeks by herself. Woop.

Nobody wants to lay today and I can't say I blame them. 105 here.

Wahoo! Today my RIR decided to grace us with a perfect little egg. I was out in the yard and did not see her. Sure enough she was in the nest box concentrating. A short while later I hear the egg song and see her come running out. I ran over to the coop to see her egg, but before I could get in there my other layer, a black sex linked, had already taken up residence. She has been laying for about two weeks now, so I throught she would be quick. However, she must have known that I realllllly reallllly wanted to see that first egg. She took her sweet time in there signing away. Finally she finished up and I was greeted by two perfect little eggs. All in all a great day.

I swear I should have spent more time on here earlier because I laugh so much.

Well, I warned the others, they better fess up like Buffy. I hadn't left for 10 minutes and my EE started the egg song! But it must have been and egg thought or egg fart or something. Then Buffy did her singing and proudly ran out, so I went and got her little egg and showed them what I expect from all of them soon.

Ooooh four eggs total today found one little one this evening. We have been at our beach house this week so checking eggs daily, but not been at home too see or hear who is laying. Cant wait to see how many tomorrow.

Well, that little talk with my girls must have worked. Yesterday I noticed one of my Buff Orp's checking out the nesting boxes. About 2 hours later I went out and found this, and guess what happy chooks, it was 105 here as well.

Hey Butchgood, congrats! So does that mean I am the only one still waiting for eggs??!!!! I guess I need to go talk to my girls, too!!! And, it's not all that hot here..lower 90's.
