First Egg Countdown!!

Update on first eggs. We are getting 3 eggs a day. I think I have 3 hens laying and 1 is not quite ready. My daughter tells me she can hear the girls at her house next door to me when the girls are laying. They are so proud of their eggs. The ones laying seems to be seeking more attention since they started laying. The grandson and his friends are enjoying the experience of seeing the different sizes and colors of the eggs. I got a dozen eggs from 4 hens in their first week, 1 is not laying. Enjoy the experience...We are enjoying them so much.

Congrats!

Yeah!! Our first egg came today. Our chickens are 19.5 weeks old. Not sure who played it. It is very small but was a double yolker :)

Happy and sad. Hazel gave us her first egg today, but she laid it from the roost in the run. I found it broken at the under the roost.

Hazel's first egg. Pretty but broken and eaten.

0 so far. they are over 20 weeks now so I have to guess it's a matter of time before I get some. i'll say around september

So excited... my RSL did the squat tonight for the first time. She is 17wks and I can't wait for the first egg to come. I have 4 others same age, but they are not even close yet. Now to get the nesting boxes ready and in the coop! We call her big Mama.
Picture taken about 2 weeks ago.

Lovely color pullet!

I think you can collect eggs as often as you like. Especially if you have any broody-prone breeds, it lessens the chance they will get mommy fever. I have to do that with my BA. My hens have acces to the coop but are in their run during the day. They just go in when they need to lay.

I have one BR who just started laying and laid almost every day last week but hasn't laid at all in 3 days. Normal or not? I was hoping she would inspire my 2 BOs who are 17 weeks.
. That sounds normal.

My white leggerhern laid again for me today. 1 and only out of 6 gals. Her second egg was just as tiny as the first.. Is that normal!?

From what I have learned that is completely normal. The eggs will get bigger as the hen gets bigger Congratzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!,!,!,!!,!,

She is beautiful....it should not be long now! I noticed you have sand in your run. How are you liking it? I'd there a smell?? I use pine right now and getting tired of changing it weekly. Was thinking about switching to sand but a little nervous too........
