First egg, FIRST EGG!!

WE GOT OUR FIRST EGG TODAY!!! Heard the egg-laying song as we were getting started this morning, and....ta-da! The chickens are 4 months old...we got them on the first part of April! The egg is smaller than the store-bought ones we have in the refrigerator...I took a picture of ours and "theirs" side by side. But it's our first egg and they're only a little over 4 months old. SO egg-citing!! We will be splitting it for breakfast! And it's blue-ish, too, which means it was one of our Easter eggers. Glynnis, we think. She was making the noise. However...now she's sitting in one of the nest boxes...so we aren't completely sure, except that the two Easter eggers are the only ones of the flock that should be laying blue-ish or green-ish eggs.

Congratz on your first egg! It's always so exciting when a member of the flock lays for the first time, and even more exciting when they're the first chicken of yours EVER that lays an egg, or even the first of that flock

I love the first eggs! I have a few that may start laying any time in September or October and I am beside myself with anticipation.

We are anxiously awaiting our first eggs! I am so glad you added a pic to the thread, I was starting to think we were still ages away because only a couple of our girls have reddish combs at this point the rest still have combs like your girl and I thought they wouldn't lay until they had a full bright red comb! You give me hope it may be soon! Hope it was a tasty breakfast ❤

Oh how fun! Definitely an EE egg! Our new babies should be laying sometime before the new year!
