I found my first egg this morning! However, I also found a few very soft shelled eggs. I do need advice from all you pros; “My chickens are close to 18 weeks when can I expect more eggs? Is this normal for eggs to be soft shelled since they’re still young?”
Thanks all

Congrats on your first egg! Yes, you'll get more, and yes, soft shell can happen in the beginning. Are they getting layer feed? Oyster shell? I would offer free choice oyster shell to make sure they are getting the calcium they need.

I have been giving them a mix of oyster shell and corn. Is that ok to give?
They need chicken feed, for complete nutrition. Corn is like giving them candy, it's merely a treat. I suggest you get layer feed or an all flock type feed asap. I like Purina Flock raiser, because layer feed is only for those laying, and I have a rooster and younger chickens not yet laying. The soft eggs may be the result of malnutrition ......
