First egg from Easter Egger. Now what?

We noticed our 17 week old EE going into the coop earlier today and doing odd squats. Hours later she had laid a small/medium sized blue egg. Attached a picture below compared to a standard large store bought egg.

Will she start laying eggs daily now? Will the eggs get bigger or is this a pretty standard size?

Congrats on your first egg! :celebrate

All eggs start out pullet sized. They will get bigger as she does in the next couple months and level off to her normal average. At first laying can be sporadic as the system get's up and going and works out any kinks.

Well, some EE will lay daily when they first start and the sun is still so high in the sky. My first set of ladies laid every day for 21 days before taking a break just one day and then another 20 ish. That is not the norm though. Once they are mature and daylight lessens a bit... EE will average an egg every other day... if they become "consistent" layers. I did have one in the past that never became consistent and would lay a few then none for weeks. My current EE made pet status and at about 4 years old, I usually see eggs every other day except during molt. If there are 2 days in a row then I know the following day will not be one. My EE eggs at full size average 55-60 grams (I just weighed several). My first pullet eggs are usually around 35 grams. Your shade may vary a little as well.

That's a lovely egg and 17 weeks is a nice age. Gotta see the bird. ;)
