I posted a pic of this on the first egg thread, but I wanted to show it off more. Our welsummers will be 6 months on September 16, and we got the first egg today. It's darker than my other brown eggs, though not quite terra cotta. But since they're hatchery girls, I'm super excited about the color. Now hopefully we'll start getting as many brown eggs as whites.

This pic is a white egg, a BR egg, a BA egg, and the wellie egg.

Congrats!

Do you know if your Ideal Welsummers came from TX or a hatchery in NM? I purchased 15 wellies from Ideal and they shipped from NM.

Well thanks. LOL It's not as dark as your wellie eggs, I'm sure, but way darker than a lot of people say hatchery wellie eggs are. So I'm thrilled.

You know, that's a good question. I don't remember looking at the shipping addy on the box. Wouldn't it be funny if you got NM wellies in TX, and I got TX wellies in NM?

I remembered that DH saved the shipping box, and went and dug it out of the basement. Shipped from zip code 76520, which is Cameron, TX! How funny!
