First egg from our Ideal welsummers. 2nd egg today... [updated pics]

Well I had to be blunt, didn't I!

At least I know what the OP's desires to have a PET Welsummer then it is not a problem. I just hated to see someone who would try to sell Welsummer hatching eggs as Welsummer when they dont fit the critique of the terra cotta egg. I dont like to see many newbies getting burned which I have heard it over and over many times on the Welsummer Club and a few folks in here as well. It pays to make informed decision to buyers who wants the PURE Welsummer that are not hatchery bred or hatchery bloodlines. Many of these hatcheries dont care about the egg colors, just getting those chicks to you is what it matters to them.

Enuff said by me!

As I stated before, I have 5 Wellie's that are about 5.5 months and should be laying soon. I am very excited after seeing yours!!!

I have 3 EEs that laying bluish-green eggs (one more blue than green), 2 salmon Faverolles that lay tannish cream eggs and the rest lay brown. So even a brown with speckles or a darker brown with speckles like yours would be exciting!!!!!

When mine lay, can I join your parade?

Yes, please join my parade of hatchery-wellie-egg excitement! I've got my fingers crossed that yours lay soon. They're close to the same age as mine!

. I have 2 little welsummer hens from Meyers Hatchery that are just 16 weeks old so i have a little time to wait for their eggs. That is such a neat looking egg. That would be a hard egg to crack. I put my eggs in a bowl each day on the kitchen table so i can see them each time i go by. Wow, i just love that egg.

2nd Welsummer egg today. I don't know if it's from the same girl, or a different one. It's prettier and darker than the first one. I used my son's camera to take pics this time, since it's WAY better than mine. My flash is too bright, and washes everything out.

On the egg color chart, it looks like about a 3 to me. So not terribly dark still, but to me it's beautiful!

Anyway, here they are...

I love the speckled eggs. I don't have any Wellies, but have Barnies that I hope will lay a darker egg in a couple more months. But I'd be thrilled with these too.

The eggs are lovely but kinda small for ostrich eggs don'tcha think?

Sorry. Couldn't stop myself.

Sometimes I'm the only one that gets my jokes.

I think they are lovely eggs. I especially love speckled eggs. I am glad you are happy with them.
