First egg layed!

I know i'm getting made fun of for saying its not like a regular egg lol. I was just so excited and had no clue on what to do so i just asked away without thinking how i was phrasing things. But thanks for the advice!! im so excited to taste it!

Thank you all for the feedback. i washed it and refrigirated it since my town has been in the high 90s we dont want to risk anything, but im so excited and its the first time ive ever raised a hen that actually laid an egg! im just happy overall

There is a lady homesteader on YouTube that I've learned so much from. She calls herself Mrs Volfie. Channel is ourhalfacrehomestead .
She has a great video on storing eggs. She washes them. Yes she knows about the bloom. She washes them to remove soil and bacteria. Then she replaces the protective covering by lightly oiling her palms with mineral oil, then rubbing each egg covering each one in a light layer of oil. Then she puts them in the fridge. She has kept them fresh for up to 9 months long. I know it works. I experimented with a few eggs. Once a month I'd float test then lightly re-oil them. After 9 months I only lost 3 eggs out of 4 dozen.

By the way, CONGRATULATIONS on your first egg! I got my first from my Buff Orpington March first. Its so exciting! I still get a thrill especially every time a new pullet lays her first egg too. Enjoy!

Very interesting - but what temperature is "room temperature"? Where does that come from??
