first egg layed

TSC gets their chicks from Hoover Hatchery.
The TSC staff are notorious for mislabeling their chicks and not knowing one breed from another. It’s pretty ridiculous sometimes.

Some hatcheries call them Ameracaunas.
But they’re actually EE.
What’s the difference?
Ameracaunas are not a mixed breed and will always lay blue eggs and will be sold as specific colors; wheaten, black, blue, splash, white, etc.

Easter Eggers are mixed breeds that have some Ameracauna genes so they lay various colored eggs. Usually some kind of blue or green but sometimes brown or even pink looking ones.
They can’t be sold as specific colors since they’re mixed and there’s no telling what they’ll look like when they feather out.

Do you have pictures of your birds you can post?
Many people on this site have helped identify what breeds people have.
It's not only TSC, I got some hatchery chicks from our Rural King and bought some of what I thought were Brown Leghorns that I had been looking for a breeder for some. There was a tub with some chicks that were marked Brown Leghorns and since I hadn't been able to locate a breeder, I bought some. They turned out to be Partridge Rocks. Leghorns lay white eggs. I sold them because I wasn't planning on working with another breed. I did get some Rose Comb Dark Brown Leghorns from a breeder.

That’s really unfortunate chickenmomma.
The fact that they weren’t even EE is pretty pathetic. :barnie
It’s a story that many others have also been through with them.
I highly recommend visiting the BYC breed reviews and/or hatchery websites and familiarizing yourself with breed descriptions and photos.
You can even order free catalogs from them.
This book is an excellent reference for poultry breeds, colors and patterns:

But the Ameracauna/EE thing is an ongoing issue among hatcheries and feed stores.
And the fact that they can call something what it isn’t is endlessly frustrating. :he

However, you have some beautiful Australorps there and they are well known as excellent layers! :celebrate
