Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. 
FIRST EGG!! Well, really the second egg. We had some contractors at the house this week and I thought they were playing a joke and planted an egg in our box on Wednesday. (I have lots of chicken conversation when contractors show up at my house.) But Marshmallow, the white leghorn- and only white layer we have, came through today at 18 weeks to prove to us she really did lay an egg! Pretty amazing.
