first egg.... tiny tiny tiny?

One of my hens laid her first egg..... it is perfectly round and no bigger than a quarter. it has a sandy texture. is this normal? the other girls first eggs had an egg shape, not this one. it was also coverd in poop. I washed it properly can we eat it?

Sound like a wind/fart egg to me. It is normal to get odd eggs when they first start laying. They need to get the plumbing worked out.

I had a bantam lay one the size of a thumb nail and just about round...it was so cute!

this is totally normal, she will figure it out in time... but I am not sure if I would eat it.
