One of my 16 girls layed her first egg today. They will be 20 weeks old tomorrow. All are Buff Orpingtons. This is our very first egg from them.

Forgot, here's a picture.

Congratulations! It looks white? My BO lays a darker egg. I would love to see pics of eggs from your other girls when they lay. I wonder how much the color will vary?

The egg is brown, but very light in color. It's only 2 inches long.

I have three full grown Orphingtons. They lay light brown eggs ranging from almost white to a medium dark brown. So, the color is not always consistent throughout the breed.

I noticed that from pics online, the only breed I have more than 1 of is leghorns. So cool!

Congrats on your first egg! We've been getting them for about three weeks now (2 of ours). We weigh them! Now they are between 50-54 grams on average. Our 2 Wyandottes are not laying yet and they are 25 weeks. Wish they would start!
