They will! Make sure you feed at least 1/4 lb feed per day per bird with poultry grit and OS on the side.

It can take from a few weeks to more than a few months for eggs to get up to a 'large' size. Have had only a very few birds that it was less than that few weeks.

The egg looks great! I am so happy for you! Don't worry about the egg size, my Golden Comet first laid an egg about the size of a marble, and it gradually got bigger over the course of a month or two. Now I get 'large' eggs as classified by the internet. Cangrats on the egg!

How are you able to tell? Is the color different from a RIR? I've got both in my flock but they haven't started laying yet.

Mostly the color. In my experiences RIR lay a slightly darker egg than a barred rock. RIR sometimes lay speckled eggs too.
