The last couple of weeks I've been keeping an eye out - Paprika's comb and wattle have gotten much bigger and I just had that feeling! She is a GLW/RIR cross, about 5 mos old.

Well today after I got home from work I found it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A beautiful little brown egg, hidden behind the feed bin (not in the next box - got to make the nest box more appealing).

We are SOOO excited - er, eggcited!!!! We are so proud of our girl!!

I took some pics - will post soon.

.I know how it feel's when ya get new bird's and wait for that first egg. I got several newbie groups yet I bought new this spring and some I hatched early Jan/Feb. and alway's checking all the nook's and crannie's for new egg's.My 2 young silkie's(one showgirl) and my Giant frizzle/ cochin's should be next in line to lay next.

. I get anywhere from 2-6 daily now from my 2 OEGB,2 Bantam Sumatra and my one columbian Wyandotte bantam only hen's old enough to lay but boy I am getting a bit of chick stock now.My oldest silkie went broody and just hatched 7 egg's.One was brought in and I hatched it in bator. We did lose the one with bad head last night sadly. So 3 silkie's and 4 OEGB's.
