First Egg

Well their not really babys but their not aged females either!

So our flock was purchased in the span of 3 weeks. The first 5 purchased about April 9th, Next group of 4 were 1 week later and 4 a week after that.

We got our very first egg this past thursday (Aug 27) We got an egg the 27th and 28th. Yesterday we got no egg at all, today we got one as well. The first two eggs were laid in the same nesting box, todays was laid in a different one. The last two eggs were brown, todays was a pinkish brown, clearly a different color.

Is the Saturday break normal? Do I have two laying hens? What is going on?

All chickens lay on different schedules, some everyday, some three a week, they lay at all different times, and some lay a bit and quit, than lay a month later and quit, so expecting a certain number over so many days will drive you crazy, I think that's part of the fun of collecting eggs, you never know what you're going to find.
